A Hotspot is a location which allows the public to access the Internet. The access is most commonly provided with 802.11b/g wireless Ethernet. Access can be 'free-to-surf' or 'pay-to-surf' depending on the preferences of the Hotspot provider.
The Thinix 1330W provides everything you need to create a powerful, yet easy-to-use, Wireless Hotspot for hotels, cyber cafes, restaurants, libraries and any location where you desire the public to have Internet access.
- Sold as a pre-configured 'managed' solution, shipped to you ready to install
- After installation, support and remote assistance are provided by the security experts at Thinix
- Pre-configured Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), skinned with your business graphics
- Re-directed customer homepage set to website of your choice
- Bandwidth restrictions based on username/passwords
- Shipped with three user groups, typically these are configured as:
- Staff (where we would provide very high bandwidth)
- Paid-Guest (where we would provide high bandwidth)
- Free-Guest (where we would restrict bandwidth to reasonable level)
- Each user group provides its own rate limiting policies to control upload/download speed
- Configured for use with Wired Ethernet, and 802.11b/g Wireless Ethernet
- Thinix ZCC™ (Zero-Configuration Client), allows guests to use the network without reconfiguring their network settings in many cases
Small wireless routers are frequently installed where a Hotspot is needed. This approach has numerous problems, with the core issues being the inability to restrict bandwidth used by guests, or require guests to agree to your policies before accessing the Internet. Furthermore, it is commonly prohibitively expensive and too complex to configure servers and software required to bill guests for Internet access. The TA-1330W solves these problems, and is offered as a highly reliable, pre-configured managed solution which is ready to be installed into your network. |
