Educational Computer Solution

The Thinix Paradigm

“As we move forward into the future, with the internet being pervasive, our view is that people will look at a computer not as a place where their information is but instead as a way to access their information. Our design goal is therefore to build an appliance-like computer, which works all the time and requires zero maintenance, which allows simple and transparent access to internet based files, computers, and services. Thinix has been architected from the ground up to accomplish these goals.”
- Don Van Oort

Thinix in Education

In educational environments, Thinix is used for students as internet/research kiosks, and to connect to Terminal Servers. Thinix can also be incorporated into the staff offices for use for day to day school functions. Whether you select Thinix for one application or both, Thinix will improve your reliability and improve your overall experience.

Secure Computing: Protect Your Investment

The integrated design of our TS-990i system allows it to be easily placed in nearly any location, and eliminates the need for a traditional bulky tower computer and much of the associated cabling because the entire computer is built into the LCD monitor. (more info)

Our Thinix HDTV-Link System allows you to turn any High Definition Television with a SVGA input into a highly reliable, easy to use, conference room computer. The HDTV-Link system includes an RF wireless keyboard with integrated touch-pad (mouse). (more info)

With either platform, along with the included software and operating system, allow your staff and students to surf the Internet, check their web-based email, and create & edit Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint files using ThinkFree Office3. The bottom line is that having a Thinix computer improves work productivity by preventing end users from installing non-approved applications on their PCs.

Our design goal is to provide users with an easy to use, ultra-reliable computer which is secure and requires no maintenance.

Thinix machines are designed to be easily installed by non-technical staff. Furthermore, since the Thinix computers always work, there is no need for technical staff to spend time fielding questions about how the computers work.

Our ThinixCloning™ system allows a single computer to be designated as a clone-master, and allows other machines on the network to be configured to automatically clone their settings from the clone master. Therefore, changing something simple, like changing the default homepage can be done on a single computer and the settings replicate to all associated computers. In a traditional Microsoft Windows-based computing environment, this is far more complex, and a change such as this may require a technician to visit every PC in the office. Features like this make Thinix a clear choice for education. Thinix has been designed from the ground up to be ultra-reliable and user-friendly.

Your main office - Powered by Thinix:

The Thinix uOS™ has been specifically designed and optimized for education.

By using Thinix workstations as your office applications, you can increase the reliability of your network and ensure that your staff uses their computers for their intended application (to work – not play games).

By using Thinix uOS™ based workstations you can achieve ultra-high reliability, and eliminate nearly all ongoing maintenance of back office computers on your network. The typical business back office environment pairs Thinix based thin client computers with either a Microsoft Terminal Server or Citrix Terminal Server. This combination of technologies allows network administrators to easily manage the user experience of employees in multiple locations.

We also have an optimized version of Windows XPe, which has been designed to incorporate the features necessary in a business back office environment. If you need to install Microsoft Windows based applications on employee computers, the Thinix optimized versions of Windows XPe is the answer you are looking for.

Thinix uOS™
Microsoft Windows XPe
- optimized for Education by Thinix

For applications requiring proprietary Microsoft Windows based application support, we have several versions of Windows XPe which have been optimized for education that can be installed on the Thinix hardware platforms. This allows customers to choose between the custom functionality and high reliability of our Thinix uOS™ based platform and Microsoft Windows XPe.

Beware - not all versions of Windows XPe are created equal. Microsoft Windows XPe is a subset of Windows XP which has been designed by Microsoft to be installed in a highly granular manner. This means that it is unlikely that any two versions of XPe will be configured identically. We have worked very hard to build a version of XPe for the education market which features the application software needed by office staff.

Microsoft Windows XPe – Core Features:
- optimized for Education by Thinix

The Thinix TS-990i integrated computer system with Windows XPe (XP Embedded) has been specifically designed and optimized for education. All-In-One Computer

Not all Windows XP Embedded (XPe) systems are alike. The primary difference between Windows XP and Windows XPe is that Windows XPe is installed with ‘components’. There are approximately 12,000 different components, meaning that Windows XPe has been developed with the embedded (function-specific) market in mind. When XPe systems are developed they can be configured using thousands of different combinations of these components and third party applications. Therefore, the problem with simply saying that the system uses Windows XPe, is that consumers may not be aware that XPe systems from different vendors can vary widely.

Included software applications

The included software and Windows XPe operating system allow staff and students to browse the Internet, check web based email, open and view .PDF files, play video and audio files from the Internet, and create & edit Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint files using ThinkFree Office3.

For large deployments, the Windows XPe embedded systems can be custom configured to support standard Windows peripherals and software applications, which provide PC-like flexibility and easy integration into Windows environments.
